Bedtime Stories

A partnership with Children’s Laureate Joseph Coelho, the World Literacy Foundation and Limited Space, to boost literacy in the UK.

In a groundbreaking partnership aimed at fostering literacy and igniting imaginations, Sleep.8 and Limited Space have teamed up with Children’s Laureate Joseph Coelho and the World Literacy Foundation to launch 'Bedtime Stories'. This partnership involves broadcasting children's story readings in UK shopping malls and online, to improve literacy levels across the nation.

"Up to 20% of children in the UK are reading below their expected level."

Kicking off on March 7th, 'Bedtime Stories' is a video series created by Sleep.8, a leading home lifestyle brand, and Limited Space, a prominent retail media owner, in collaboration with the World Literacy Foundation. The series features prominent public figures reading engaging storybooks to children, setting the stage for a lifelong love of reading and learning.

The launch of 'Bedtime Stories' comes at a crucial time, following the release of the World Literacy Foundation’s latest impact report. The report highlights that up to 20% of children in the UK are reading below their expected level, citing various factors such as the impact of Covid home learning, linguistic diversity, and socio-economic disparities.

"Just 20 minutes of reading with a child each day can significantly alter their educational trajectory."

Andrew Kay, CEO of the World Literacy Foundation, underscores the transformative impact of bedtime reading routines, emphasizing that just 20 minutes of reading with a child each day can significantly alter their educational trajectory. According to Kay, children who engage in regular bedtime reading are three times more likely to attend university and read at grade level by Year 3.

The launch of 'Bedtime Stories' marks a significant step towards addressing the literacy gap in the UK.
